Default Help req

If in wrong section can you move it
My life is pretty NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- at moment living in my car , it has started to have the battery light on below 1000 revs sometimes its flashes once quick sometimes its on all time even flashes once and thats it ,its a 2.0 diesel im not mechanical minded so its getting me very stressed

Just had a quick look online, £50 for a used one seems the average.

Cost of fitting in a garage will depend on what their hourly rate is.
A local forum member who knows what they're doing would be cheaper I suspect.

Also worth checking to see if there is an obvious cause for the unit to fail - possibly PAS hose or leak from the PAS pump gasket that joins the two halves together that lives just above the alternator, oil ingress is a killer of the alternators on these. Well worth checking this out prior to having repairs carried out rather than ignore it as the costs will be significantly greater for 2 alternators and one PAS pump ETC.
