They should end benefits for the lazy work shy multiple child benefit scroungers.

There would be enough money in the pot to provide for the pensioners and the young that are willing to go out to work or stay on in education.

Yep, it really gets my goat when I see fit young people never working, spending their entire life living on the state. I and my generation just had to work, no other options.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

Listen to the Sky News Paper Review last night.
They briefly ‘discussed’ this topic.
Youngest Journalist made comment along the lines of ‘there is not a big enough pool of young people ‘paying taxes’ to support the needs of the older generation, who could need nursing care etc.
WHEN I FULLY RETIRE IN A FEW YEARS TIME, I WILL STILL BE PAYING INCOME TAX, FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE.
A majority of ‘older people’ will be doing the same.
This type of comment is nonsense.

It is the system which attracts expenses fiddlers which needs reforming.

Ultimately, it all depends on the kind of society we want, and importantly Britain needs to decide once and for-all if we want to continue with a Welfare System, which provides services to ALL and for which we have to pay, and pay we must at a rate which is fair and proportionate, there are far too many insanely wealthy people who not only pay very little taxes, but in addition are able to exploit loops in the system to facilitate paying even less in tax, it is very easy for the rich to use their wealth to become more wealthy, this way they enjoy better health, better housing, better education, significantly longer and more enjoyable life etc, their kids then go on to repeat the cycle.

In addition major institutions need to be taxed fairly. Anyway pigs may fly and things will improve.

I agree with that to a point, when I had 5 children at home, all under the age of 12 I would have been 30% a week better off by not working!

Did I stop work and claim dole? Did I hell, I was brought up to work.

It's certainly something that needs looking at. If only to help stop a gap between the generations perceived differences in how they are treated.

I think the majority of the oldies were brought up to work, not working for a living was never then an option or even on the horizon. On approaching school leaving, it never entered anyone's head that they would do anything other than get a job and earn our keep. Now we seem to have changed to a society where there is a useful backstop position of doing nothing - completely unheard of in my day. You went out and had to get some sort of job.

Now they are desperately short of man power, welcoming people from eastern EU to fill positions and our home grown are allowed to sit on their backsides and watch TV. Make 'em work.
