Ignoring what you have already done previously, your symptoms (cold misfire, coolant loss and white smoke(steam?)) add up to a head gasket problem. Before going much further you should eliminate the head gasket/head surface.

Chris, keep an eye on the water level over the next few days, weeks. If its dropping you know where its going. If its not losing oil or water it may be unburnt fuel you are seeing (apart from the fact it's white ) and your problem could indeed be coil packs, or plugs and leads

Danny. I like others, find your posts most informative, I do hope your going to stick around

Just out of interest my HG has blown twice and there was never any mayo signs! My car had all your symptoms the second time (only 1500 miles between failures). Fitted with the uprated HG 2 weeks ago, not sure if it's the Xpart or Discovery one but all seems ok at the mo.

Hi Chris, I'd go with Phil's comment above about the manifold gasket first.
As you said something didn't feel right when you fitted it so would start there . There may be some evidence when you remove it.

Are you coming to the meet Saturday?

Russ
