passenger footwell full of water

Woke up this morning after night of rain to find passenger footwell full of water

The car started - everytime i went around a corner i could hear 'hissing' like water was either splashing onto exhaust pipe or directly onto the road

any clues - looks like another night of rain?

Your plenum is blocked and ECU is swimming.......you need to deal with it NOW before the ECU is permanently damaged

YES Agree Greeners.....

Get in your plenum and get that water out fast or you will regret it big time......Car started this morning but more rain may see you not having an ECU tomorrow..

And yes you can do this in your lunch hour.

I would do this asap, if your ECU gets wet then your car will not start and you could be looking at a big bill.

had same problem , not Plenum drain but overflow tube from sunroof had come adrift , check if plenum looks dry , there is a link on here somewhere , but basiclly it means removing the plastic trim - glove box etc tube should fit in a hole on the passenger side bulkhead - about a foot fron the floorpan - sounds like pain to do , but it aint too bad .

the plenum was flooded - i found the easy one to get at and as soon as i touched it (it had leaf on it), it drained out onto the floor - and the car started - phew! - thanks

i pulled out the plug anyway to cut the bottom of but the drain plugs look different to the ones in the diagram - the drain hole in mine seems much bigger (like they fixed it) so i didn't cut any more off incase i made it too short - what would happen if i left it out all together? i realise more water would get in, but at least it would get out again and wouldn't flood right? - or is it?

is there any particular plenum drain plug that directly affects the ECU? - i know there are some others that are more difficult to get at

There is another plenum needs looking at below the pollen filter, it is this one that becomes very much blocked up and floods. If you go to the How to's there are instructions on getting to it - look at pollen filter removal, it's clear what to do with pics.
