Default Mis-fire and white smoke

My rover 75 1.8 has a misfire from cold had it for a while now but today its started blowing big clouds of white smoke out from cold once its warmed up its ok any common causes for this or any idea what so ever had a quick read of thee haynes and it all sounds abit scary (the mis-fire has got worse recently got some new plugs but the wrong ones)

Hi Mate, good to see you posting, shame its not with good news.

Sounds like you need to see Tatts and his code reader on Saturday. (yorks meet)
Is it using water Chris?
1.8 white smoke doesn't sound too good.

Replace DOT with .

It's a spam trap.

Sounds like water getting into the combustion chamber. Check the coolant level.

it had lost some water when i checked it earlier where is the combustion chamber and what does it mean/or need for repair and how can i check

Combustion chamber is inside the engine i'm afraid. Do I remember you saying you changed your head gasket a while ago? Did you replace the inlet manifold gasket?

If it is the head Gasket, change using the New XPart all Metal Job.
Far superior even to the Land Rover one.

Almost definitely classic head gasket symptoms unfortunately. There are some pretty basic checks you can have done to help confirm this.

its not the head no mayo in oil or water did the head gasket at new year i did do the inlet manifold gasket but something didn't feel right when i did it could it have been fitted wrong does the engine need taking to bits or once i've done the manifold gasket will it sort itself ( just evaperate or go out the exhaust )

Mayo isn't a cast iron guarantee of HGF. If you say it didn't feel right, it probably wasn't, they are really easy to change. I would personally get another and fit it if it were my car.
