fitted sc housing yesterday - presume from new batch as i ordered it before xmas when there was non ready. It has no hole in the stat which is marked with '988c 10-1301'.
1st 100 miles: much quicker heat in cabin. Reached 'normal' ( 1/4 too ) within 5 miles (never seen 'normal' before! ). Never rose above 1/4 too.
Me happy.

I had a proper run in it today of about 25 miles. It took about 6 miles to reach a steady state of about 84 degrees and only moved about 3 degrees either side of that. Nice warm feet!!!

I am happy also.

Excellent. Good to hear from a couple of owners who are pleased with no complications.

Wuzerk ! Tonight's result much more promising. With the 3mm hole yesterday it struggled to reach temperatures between 78 and 80 after a good 45 minute run. Tonight I took it out again, and sealed up that hole with a pop rivet and drilled a 1mm hole next to it. The ambient outside air temperature is similar to last night but after 10 minutes the temperature was up to 85, then after a further 20 minutes driving around 70mph the temperature was ranging between 93 max down to 87 min, so a +-3 range. Much more stable than with no hole, and much warmer than with a 3mm hole. Around town after the faster run it settled between 87-90.

I'm much more comfortable with a max of 93 than with 103, so I'll leave it alone for the next few weeks now and see how it does over a variety of driving conditions.

Wuzerk !

Another 2 weeks has passed since i settled on a 1mm hole, but today after a 2 hour drive including some hard uphill stretches, the max I've seen was 96 for a few brief moments. It is settling between 87 and 93 for the majority of the time. So I have no more worries about 100+ temperatures seen before the hole. She's running lovely and smooth with it too.

Default Renault 5 stat

Well I had the opurtunity of giving my car a good long run earlier this week,a round trip of 260 miles.

Mainly A roads and motorways, besides a very short warm up period, the temp cycled between 86C and 93C,so happy with that.

Consumption before was (Brim to brim) 50.3 MPG, on this journey it returned 53.4 MPG so it would appear to have marginal improvement so again happy with that as well

Will continue to monitor and report on this forum

I think mine is running a bit to warm?
On the journey to work today ambient temp 8-9C it sat at 96 then dropped to 86 then upto 96 again which was ok till I hit the hilly bit's went to 106 so I think tomorrow it's coming off to get a 1mm hole drilled into it.
I have fitted a QTH107 stat to mine and was wondering what everybody else's set up is and how there getting on?

As stated previously the QT107 orifice is smaller by a couple of mm compared to the Stat supplied with the housing so these warmer readings are very similar to the experimental Renault Stat we tried inside the hose without the housing.
Have to wait and see when even warmer ambient temps come our way
