Default generic car parts and the eu

this news item was on this evenings news and also in todays telegraph (but as that is behind a paywall) i quote a link from todays express which is the only other place i could find it (after a quick skim search).

presumably,, generic parts would still be available to us diy'ers. And I'm surprised the extra cost using genuine parts is only £100/annum.
