What a difference ! - Page 2

Having owned and operated over 30 different cars over the years, the advent of fora like this are a godsend. One or two other enthusiast fora have been very good to me in the past, but none approach the depth of information available here. Truly astounding, and it gives members such great confidence and belief in their cars. I think I've almost read everything I can about Rover 75's, but still have only scratched the surface of the treasure trove of relevant knowledge on display here.

As for the younger generations - I am currently advising a young lady wishing to buy her next car; her preference is for a petrol Audi A3, costing second-hand up to £7000. I looked at hundreds of A3's, and advised her to look at Lexus IS 220 turbo diesel instead - boot too small, said she. So I found her an immaculate, rust-free Contemporary Tourer with only 41,000 miles on the clock - garaged for the last 7 years and forgotten about! At £2275, I wish to buy it for myself, but other personal commitments won't allow. Will she go for it? I doubt it, but we shall see! (she hasn't read my texts yet, so please don't go and buy it before she has time to say no thank you!)

The cry of the younger generation ladies who don't like "big" cars as they can't park them! Even when such a bargain car would save them £5 or £6k compared with some pretty German shoe box!

Very nice and very low mileage. Thought contemporary spec had the really nice full leather seats though?

Well I'm a gal and I like big cars lol. Biggest in bodyshell I've owned were 2 Shogun LWBs. Biggest engine Pontiac Trans Am 5litre hehe. I've tried small cars, had a wonderful Nissan Micra, never any issues - HATED it. I'm drawn to older, larger cars, always have been.

My best mate reckons she can't drive a big car, scared of 'em. And yet she had to drive my Contemporary last year and after an hour or so had a large smile on her face! The thing is people make assumptions without actually trying it sometimes!

PS, that doesn't look like my Contemporary -different wheels, interior etc?

Well, my current CDT was Mrs MSS' daily for the school runs for four years. Prior to that, she had a wedgewood CDT that someone decided to drive into and remove much of one side. Prior to that, she drove our Omega estate V6 for the school runs. All three were chosen by her for the safety, comfort and style.

These days, she spends the summer in her Twintop and would like an E-class cabriolet or SLK next.

German shoe box? she is currently encouraging me to get one of these as a toy on the condition that we will both drive it like all our cars........

PS the parking sensors on her CDT have always been disabled - real women and men don't need parking assistance!

Went up the local dump the other day and there was a Ford Ka (hardly a Limo) in front of me with a load of holly in the back obscuring the back window view.

New rules up there and you now have to reverse park, which makes sense for unloading. Anyway the supervisor held me up while he let her reverse in. She had a choice of two available bays next to each other but after much tooing and froing she gave up and drove in.

How on earth did she pass her test?
