Not easier to just replace with a modern stereo that has CD/USB etc? that way you dont loose your glove box space.

Appreciate your comments ,it has crossed my mind, especially when you consider the government is bringing in digital radio quite soon , like TV,most car radios will no longer be of any use, so when buying ensure its digital, I have a 2010 Mazda MX5 which the wife drives , that has a Bose digital system already in place.
So for time being I'll keep the old 75 in its original condition, then when I have to ,upgrade and also use my Iplayer. All the best Derek

Understood! just sometimes the cd changer units can outweigh the cost of a cheaper aftermarket radio!

Totally understand, however this unit plus compatible symphony radio cost £50 inc P&P so can bear that......Incidentally I have tried to "thank you" but thank you logo does not seem to appear on your page? Thanks

Exchange kit has arrived but radio has had a knock so would rather use mine that is fitted....I know how to remove but can I gain access without disconnecting as I do not appear to have the code for my radio. In the drivers manual there is the VIN, Chassis, and a four digit number that appears to be related to nothing could that be the code? Is there a way if I get stuck, to obtain a code? Thanks Derek

I will hijack this thread as it is relevent to the issue I am having.

I have sourced a changer but realised I didn't have the correct lead. I have now bought a full set of head unit, loom and changer.

I have tried the blue plug of the new loom from the radio to the changer. The changer goes through the CD cassette, so is connected, but when I press the CD/tape button on the head unit all I get is 'no tape' on the display.

I have tried both head units & both changers with the same issue.

i have now unbolted the BCU to gain access to what I thought would be the plug on the current car loom but there doesn't appear to be one. It appears that the stereo loom is part of a bigger one.

I wonder if there is a signal via either the green or yellow plugs that isn't being sent to tell the head unit that a changer is present.

I am running out of ideas now. I have two changers, a loom and 2 head units and still no CD.
Argh.
Help please

Assume you have Rover 75 Symphony radio fitted, the connections for the multi changer are contained within the main loom, one is red/white but not too certain about the other. However if you have multi changer ,again I'm assuming you have the Multi Changer independent loom, which has to be connected via plug to CD changer and the other end wired into main loom, follow colour coding of CD changer loom?
If you are fitting an after market head unit, all plugs etc should be included to enable you to marry up with Rover 75 loom. There are a lot of them, but the one thing they will NOT do is activate the original Rover 75 CD changer, most like mine are single disc load?
Plus ensure you have chosen correct main socket/plug to connect to Rover loom? hope this helps
