Today, i fixed my rear interior light, The normal thing, broken tabs, i have just recently gotten into 3d printing, mostly for railway modelling etc, but one of the sites i'm on, i googled Rover75, and two things came up, Replacement light tabs and roof plugs, and the light tabs are replacements for the broken locating tabs, so i printed them off, and used hot glue to fit them to the base, they slot in to the original holes where the tabs were, and i glued them to ensure a firm bond,

Today I got out the dual action polisher and set to work on the tired paint. I think the previous owner must've regularly parked next to bushes as the passenger's side is particularly scratched with light but long horizontal scratches. Did a little before and after by masking half the door off:

Let my 17 yo drive round the house, in RKZ (my only manual) as he’s starting to learn to drive. Driving forwards wasn’t too bad TBF.
I then asked him to reverse around the corner.🤨🤔 I had to yank the hand brake to within an inch of its life, to make him stop an inch from the tourer.😱 No harm done, or profanities sworn…well only quietly in my head.🥵🥵🥵🥵 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Over the last 2 days. Like Artic I’ve finally managed to take advantage of the warmer temperature to give the car a full going over prior to next months MoT. After the usual check of fluids and changing of filters, the operation of lights, wipers and washers etc I jacked the car up and then:
Cleaned the wheels and wheel wells; Had a mug of tea. Then checked the brakes and cleaned up the callipers. Found the nearside rear was rubbing slightly; had another mug of tea. Checked for play in the bearing – none so rechecked the calliper was not sticking so after a bit of fiddling and examining the disk I found it to be very slightly out of true and the cause of the problem. Not a big issue at the mo and the pads will wear in but have put new rear disks put on the shopping list. Yet another mug of tea, a Cornish pasty and a trip to the little boys room! Once I had personally defueled, I then slithered under the car and hand cleaned the underside and checked for signs of corrosion (none found). Another mug of tea and a yet another trip to the loo! Finally, checked suspension springs and dampers – all good no corrosion, damage or signs of impending failure.. Underside then rewaxed and sill cavities, rear sub frame and suspension treated with a fresh helping of Lanoguard. Had 2 more mugs of tea and yet another trip to the boys room before putting the wheels back on. Done for the weekend - now I’m stiff as a board and in need of some TLC myself but am happy that no major problems are on the horizon and no corrosion was found so the old girl is physically good for many more years yet. Next to do ..... another day ...... detail and polish ready for the sunshine.

Well, good day and bad! Fixed the stuck bonnet on my newly acquired W reg 2.0 V6. Turned out to be just siezed catches rather than a cable issue. Sprayed them with WD40 to unstick them, then smeared plenty of copper grease on.
With the bonnet now open I rodded the plenum drain tubes and cleared the leaves out of the chamber. There was a small amount of water in the chamber but nowhere near as much as I expected given that it rained here everyday last week. The pollen filter looked like new. Bad bit was that the engine steadfastly refused to start! Would crank over but not fire. Last edited by ScreamingLordStokes; 2nd April 2023 at 22:41.. |
