This Mornings Earthquake
Strewth !! Woken just before 6 a.m. this morning by a strange rumbling sound that lasted for about 30 seconds. In my sleepy state, I reckoned it was an aircraft.
Turning on the tele, it seems Stockton experienced an earthquake that registered 2.8 on the Richter scale. Six miles down they say. Not experienced one of those before. Strange feeling hearing it, then realising what it was. |

We had one in Derby a few years ago, early hours of the morning.
Woke everyone up. Luckily no damage done, but it went on for what seemed ages, though in reality must of only been a few seconds. A really good proper rumble! Glad you're ok. Glad in England we don't get building levelling strength!

It's a strange sensation; the last thing you expect to be the cause is an earthquake.
Glad that's how you will remember it. |

Sorry, I've got to ask...
Did you turn to your partner and ask if the earth moved for them?

I am in Stockton. About five to six this morning, big rumble and the house was shaking. I thought one of the kids had fallen out of the top bunk, or the bunk had collapsed! Funny how they both slept through it...

I'm near the Lancashire shale oil project, so have felt a few minor 'rumblies' over the years.
A very odd feeling, doors and drawers rattling slightly then silence. I wouldn't mind (safely) feeling a slightly larger one - but then I've always been a fan of geology

Can it be blamed on either Brexit or global warming?
