Help! Nasty Virus Has Attacted my PC
HELP
A nasty virus has attacted to my PC and I was hoping someone could help me out. I opened an E'mail addressed:- DHL ********* thinking it was some info regarding a delivery I was expecting from DHL but oh no it wasn't. My screen came up with a full colour GREEN with the warning 'YOUR COMPUTER IS INFECTED' I can start up my PC but it only goes as far as the wallpaper with no icons or task bar at the bottom. Hitting any keys makes no difference, it just sits there stairing at me. The only info I can give you as to what it might be are:- 'WORM WIN 32 NETSKY' & ' TROJAN SPM/LX I am on my laptop which is old and slow at the moment, so if there is anyone who could help I would much appreciate it Regards

I have been told that I could take out the Hard Drive a fit into a CADDY and down load my files and Documents etc and then Format the Hard Drive.
Two problems with that is 1/ haven't got a CADDY 2/ Have not got a windows disc to load back up with. Regards

I had a similar problem a few years ago..... green screens, blue screens, home page taken over etc.... ran in safe mode to conduct searches for an answer to the problem. Eventually I decided to take advice found in many searches and got Webroot Spy Sweeper. I don't know if a trial is still available - that's what I originally downloaded - but I now subscribe for a reasonable fee and have averted many serious threats. In fact, it has turned out to be a cheaper option than my previous protection setup. I simply use AVG free antivirus and the windows firewall, but Spy Sweeper sorts out any virus/trojan threats before any other program. Honestly, I cannot give it high enough recommendation. I hope this may help.

Thanks for that Steve
The problem I have is that I can open in safe mode but it does not help as it only gives me info on the settup of the PC. It doesn't show me any other way to start up. Flumuxed

If you start it in Safe Mode, can you run a system restore to a date prior to the infection then run a full virus scan to clean it
