Well while demand is being eradicated (which I very much doubt it ever will be) it's uplifting to hear of one small piece of natural justice for the innocent animals.Certainly made my day too, long may it continue to happen.

With my two dogs I could make a fortune.

I do remember in the 1960’s and 70’ people coming back from holidays abroad with what they thought was “weed” - and it turned out to be camel and donkey poo.

They had been smoking it as well!!

So THAT'S why we have a useless prime minister and opposition leader.

As long as they were happy, who are we to differentiate?

I love stories like this.

Good on the elephant .

One day we might understand that we share this planet, we don't own it and constantly raping it will bring unpleasant consequences.

But, currently, business/greed trumps all .

Andy.

Here is a photo of a trophy hunter who was eaten by a Pride of Lions last year. I cropped out the Lion he shot dead. For whatever reason, his head was not eaten

This is the other side to the problem of businesses in Africa who promote hunting as a sport and money maker. Kenya has made poaching a capital offence, which I fully support. previous measures of reducing/eradicating it failed.

I couldn't agree more with the fact that the alleged pharmaceutical benefits of the product and the wearing of remains of slaughtered animals as objects of perceived adornment are the motivational base for this appalling trade.

Attempts to change the historical beliefs of millions and to stop the trade in animal parts was to a degree covered under Cites law and in force as long ago as 1975. It seems to have been widely ignored and was specifically intended to prevent the extinction of species in the wild. That, right there, is the rub. The international get-out-of-jail-free card. You can't prove an extinction until it has happened.

So, how do you stop it? Eradication of a fervent quasi-religious historic belief and custom is well nigh impossible and judicial reform is widely laughed at. Plus, the trade in trophies and 'jewellery' is too profitable for the dealers to ignore and there is a considerable market for products other than food in the same countries as the slaughter takes place.

If the law is to be the only measure, it has to be enforced by massively increased Ranger activity with government financial backup by wider aerial patrol to detect and focus efforts.

The planet will only be safe once mankind is eradicated.

This is like many "unpleasant" trades such as, perhaps, modern day slavery/people trafficking or drug production/dealing - it's about greed and profit for the few.

Maybe there needs to be a "business" solution?

Something like automatic bankruptcy and a decade or two of unpaid community labour - and that includes corrupt officials?

Or how about something a bit more radical - withdrawal of trade at National level from any country that fails to take appropriate steps to eradicate the "trade" at source?

Andy.
