Default Engine performance mods

Hello, I am thinking of modifying something for my 2.0 V6 Petrol engine for better engine performance or BHP or whatever, not something really major, but just small or relative medium modifications to add some power to it, any tip is welcome, now for example I want to modify the air filter on my own and fit a sport conic one and build one on my own, similar to a K&N one, and then maybe a remap, I didn't inform myself about remapping and it's benefits, but I heard it improves performance, and then of course, waiting for your thoughts for other mods that can be done

Remap on a V6 won't give you much for your money. If you've got a 160 then you can remove the obstructions from the air box (there's a "How To" somewhere). On my 2.5 I fitted a K&N filter and removed the restrictive end on the top of the Shannon Tube, replacing it with a homemade wire cover to keep bits out. That increases the amount of air it can suck in, and yes it DOES learn this quite quickly and returns to a nice healthy 650 rpm idle. If you're thinking about an induction kit then remember that these work best when delivering COLD air. So anything involving a short pipe ending in an uncovered filter within the engine bay is only going to be really useful while that engine bay is cold. The warmer it gets the less of an advantage it gives. What you really need is an air intake under the wheel arch - which is what you've got to start with - or one at the front end of the car to maximise the ram effect. On the FTOs we used to knock one through the front panel next to the headlamp unit or use a bonnet-top intake. On the 75 the former isn't really possible given the positions of the radiator and headlamps and the latter is just SO undignified.

I had this set up fitted on the wife's V6 ZT at one of the nano meet's, sound's and look's really good. There is an excellent how to on the forum by Mischief. All the required accessories ie cone filter, chrome pipes etc cost about £30.
