Default are tyre protectors needed on all models

hi reason for asking I checked my car and the brothers (03 & 04 ZTT) and both have no fixing holes for them to be fitted, so wondering if it was only specific years that needed them ?
Thanks

Sometimes the holes end up full of crud and hard to find. Give the area a good wire brushing and they may appear!

My 04 reg 75 recently broke a front spring, so yes I would consider them necessary.

I thought the mounting holes were missing on first glance, but upon closer inspection they were there but full of road gunk.

When i fitted my spring protectors there are 2 holes in the cup - upper and lower - on both it took some fettling to line up the bolt in the upper hole - the lower bolt no problem - but the top bolt took some time -seemed a mil or two out to me.

Different screws and torques

Every car should have them.

There was a recall for some 2001 cars. My friends is a 2001 and he had to take it and have them fitted. Mine is a 2002 and is ok. There was certain vin numbers that had to have them fitted, supposedly because of a faulty batch of springs. I think it it was to do with the heat treatment of the spring ‘wire’ myself.
