Any tips on replacing handbrake shoes - Page 2

Looking to sort a poor handbrake, are TRW shoes still the preferred choice? Have previously gotten around the shoe pin hole being rusted out by use of 5mm nut and bolt with a washer to bridge the enlarged hole... Anybody have another fix- apart from new back plates?

Are they adjusted properly? Have you fitted an uprated compensator? I would check these before shoe replacement

Use the brake shoes to pull the springs into place rather than trying to stretch the springs onto the shoes.

I wish I'd known this when I did mine. It's a real pain trying to stretch those springs
