Not strictly true. It would appear that there was a 1.8t petrol that was drive by wire. Currently up for sale on that auction site. BW04 VVF. Item number

I revived this as I was searching to see if there was a way to make the wife's TF drive by wire, (very long throttle cable). I was searching through eBay at the same time for a "fixer upper" and noticed that this one was on there and it's only 24 miles from me. I'm sorely tempted to save this one as it seems to be a bit of a developmental car. Anyone on here got any info about it?

Problem is that it's a pre production development car. Different ECU's that won't communicate with T4, and usually came with various fault lights permanently on because they hadn't been configured correctly. Could be fun come MOT time.

Not for the faint hearted!

I wouldn't touch that development car with a barge pole, you'll never get it configured properly.
Somewhere I have the wiring layout for the fly by wire cars and not only are various ECU'S different, the wiring and communication protocols are completely different.

There was also those Canadian V6'S that were fly by wire development cars that were missing the ECM's as they'd been taken back to Longbridge for further development. The only way they could have been put back on the road would have been a replacement loom and ECU set from a standard car.

Development ECU'S are often buggy to say the least, I've got a prototype tourer BCU that never worked properly, it won't reconfigure either.

Just wanted to add to this thread that I have recently bought a Firefrost 190 ZT-T on an 08 plate that was, I believe, a prototype for Euro4 spec. It too has a fly by wire throttle plus bespoke cats, airbox and relocated coolant tank. It's on 125k miles so far and the previous owner had used it as his daily for the last 10 years!

Any idea what it went for?

It's currently in Brightwell's auction.

There's a link to this thread. That's one way of putting people off bidding, i suppose.
