Default KV6 - normal for coolant to rise out of tank with cap removed?

My ZT has always done this…..
Even from cold, if I remove the cap and start it, the coolant will rise and overflow out the tank.

It never over heats, and has been in a long hold up. I’ve bled the system as best as possible. It done this with the old engine and with its replacement engine. New thermostat, water pump, cap etc.

I can only assume that it is normal behaviour?

I'm afraid it's not normal Ashley, there is something wrong.

When you bled both your engines did you follow the MG Rover procedure exactly?

I think you mean at the bottom of the tank don't you Ron? That's where the tabs marked MIN and MAX are.
