I learnt that (i might be wrong) when you introduce more air (Increased compression) th spark as more air to travel threw. So more coil Volts required (spark accelerator) to bridge that same gap.

This will be taken care of by the ecu and sensors, no need to adjust anything manually.

So are you saying that when th ECU detects th increase in boost pressure, it then increases th voltage to th plugs??

If none of the previous suggestions solve it try a new boost control solenoid Bob.If yours is the original it's likely to be weak with your impressive mileage.

Anybody near you got a 1.8 or 1.8T? Borrow the coil packs and see if the "replacements" make a difference.

I’m surrounded in diesels and a lonely V8, and that’s in bits.

Is the hesitation at low engine revs or or at higher engine revs ? when you accelerate hard as at higher revs the turbo's can cause over boost and the ECU cuts the engine to prevent damage . This can be down to the turbo control pipework
0.75 was what I set mine to 😉

Id still like to know why th spark plug gap is so critical and how th ECU compensates when th boost pressure as been increased. Is th coil pack or a coil with leads to th plugs? 25kv or 45kv?

Did you resolve it in the end?

I had this issue on my 1.8 T, it was the coil packs.
