Just come across this and I did my own repair.

I ensured I opened the circuit on the board with the soldering iron so that current doesn't go all over the place and causes a short.

No pics of it, but I'm sure you know what I mean.

I put LED bulbs too, so if you do do that respect the polarity.

Only replaced the circuit board a few months ago and now the lights are failing again. Tightened one of the loose clips and it worked temporarily. Now neither work, bulbs ok but I see some corrosion on one of the rivets. MOT on Wed so I only have tomorrow night to fix it. Will check the bellows etc as mentioned. Thanks.

Followed the how-to but soldered the wires to the bulb connectors. Worked out well in the end - lights sorted. Many thanks.

Done this saloon number plate light mod as the thread above but my plinth/boot handle has weathered and although very clean and good on the exterior has no internal fixings to fit the plinth to the boot lid. As all plinth end fixing parts are missing I am not sure what is supposed to be there.

The Rimmer diagram gives kind of a nut as part but no indication how the nut is held to the plinth to hold it all together.

I have done a temporary bodge of squares of flexible polythene (kitchen/food containers) as layers of large square washers that wedges the two centre bolts into the plinth behind the remaining stumps of the old fixing points and that works temporarily very well but the ends of the plinth will allow rain water into the boot lid light unit.

The plinth has 4 screw threads, the 2 inner ones are fixed with 2 x 6mm nuts, the outers have 2 like push fit scrivets.
