I think I might have started something! Found a second email re above in my spam folder, from the Environmental section of the council, with an official letter attached. The environmental section is opening an investigation into the work being carried out in the museum quoting a potential breach of some regulation or other that may result in legal action.

Sent an email to the local council. Started working in the little used museum car park next door, they were concerned by some minor subsidence. Today . . . . WFT is that?! They'd brought in a pile driver to pack the new foundations, yes a huge bl00dy pile driver with a flat bottomed ram! Its only about 20 yards from the cottages and all four cottages were reverberating with the vibration caused by this thing pounding the ground. Had ornaments rattling on the shelves, we both had headaches, Ging even had earplugs in. We received no notification what so ever that this was planned. With the age of the cottages we're all concerned about the possibility of damage caused by the vibration. All I've heard back from the council so far is an acknowledgement email saying they will investigate.

LOL I hope I'm not looking at mood swings & all that malarkey! I'm happy in my silly mood

Funny you should mention building work next door especially piling work!
We got a letter from the council about next door putting another storey on top of his kitchen extension which would involve piling work and if we had any objections now was the time to submit them.
The previous owners had piling work when they built the kitchen extension & like you say it rattles the windows.

The reason this house has big gardens is because the land between our houses wasn't stable to build another house there at the time (100 years ago) so they left this house with big gardens.

Evening all.

It’s been blooming hot today. Managed to get a few jobs till the heat set in.

Garden watered.

Watching a film on Film 4, Atomic Blonde. And supping a beer.

Trouble is Ian, its not knocking piles into the ground, they're using a huge blunt ended 18-24" diameter tube thing to compact the ground rather than go down into it hence the horrendous vibration its causing.

Although I'm in the highest risk group for prostate cancer they want to treat it with hormones & radio therapy instead of surgery, I'll be starting the three month hormone treatment next week when I see the oncology chap at Bolton.
Good morning Ian

That is fantastic news you are starting the treatment next week. Even though I don’t have cancer of the prostate, I have been on hormone medication which shrinks the size of my enlarged prostate and since being on it since March this year it has made a big improvement with improved bladder flow and getting up less in the night. My last PSA in May was 0.8. The only side effect I have is I am more manly than before, sorry to disappoint Steve the Strat - no man boobs …..

It’s great you are not having to go through an op and you won’t have to face the prospect of incontinence.

Do keep us posted

Morning all,

Yesterday we spent the day at Warleigh Weir near Bath and swam in the river which was great for wild water swimming and the water was nice and cold. We will be going back there today. It’s a nice spot with a shallow area for paddling and toddlers can play in the shallows, with plenty of large trees for shade.

What is everyone up to?

Morning Phil, That's good to know the hormone treatment reduces the size of the prostate so you can pee better, I'm struggling at times. Yes I'm more than happy they want to go this way to treat it In fact I had a phone call from the Bolton hospital pharmacy yesterday evening saying there is medication for me to be picked up there, They said I would start it on the 16th Aug when I have an appointment with the oncologist but sooner the better by the looks of it.

Morning all.

Another pure blue and cloudless sky here.

About to take Quizzie for a swim before it gets too warm then off for a check up at the vets this afternoon (Quizzie not me - but then again......).

Keep cool and hydrated.

Take care.

Morning. Baking here already, high 20s. Doing the plants with fertiliser before it gets too hot.

Thankfully that bleedin' pile driver is working at the far end of the car park so noise and vibration isn't so bad.
