Just go into an old hospital and look at the doors, locks and hinges. The doors were all hardwood, the hinges were heavy brass and the locks were state of the art. They lasted a lifetime and more. If you had a paint job for the hospital, it was knot, prime and stop, one undercoat and three coats of gloss!

A lot of the money is now spent on high tech and we all know how much that costs.

I don't have the answers but if we have a "free" NHS, well, somebody has to pay for it!!!!!

Nice and sunny here in Norfolk today. Topping up on vitamin D is called for again!
I started working for the NHS in 1973 in the days of plenty. I remember seeing the wards painted in magnolia - was a popular colour and the theatres had green wall tiles on the walls. Not long after I started, the hospital laundry workers went on strike. As a union member I was expected to support the strikers.

The UK without an NHS, I wonder if that will ever happen.

Cool

Morning everyone

Another grey start to the day.

Had a meal out last night with the Southwest crew at a new venue in Liskeard. Good food. 2 courses for a tenner. Allen had a discount card which covered us all.

Off to a car gathering today with the Coffee and Cars club.

Good morning everyone, morning Bob, it’s great to see you are out and about enjoying life and getting to a meet.

I wonder what today will bring?

Good morning Ian, what you are describing is similar to the practice we use in Bristol. The staff car park at the health centre is usually full and I wonder where are the staff and what are they doing?

When ever I visit the practice, the front desk and waiting room is often deserted.

My next telephone appointment with the GP is 1 September, a 10 minute slot. Up the road is a private health centre, a face to face consult with a GP is £95 which is quite a lot to pay when everyone is struggling to pay their bills. I would have to be desperate to see a private GP.

5 days ago, we stayed with friends In Wembley.

On the second day of our stay, one of the neighbours knocked on the door asking for help. Could we go next door and get her husband (an elderly gent with Parkinson’s) off the floor where he had been all night.

I couldn’t go. Jessica went but couldn’t lift him because of her back. So we got help from other neighbours to do the lifting. Those neighbours were Afghanistan’s, fit looking young men who attended and lifted him and later on got him into an Uber to take him to hospital. How very kind of them to be so helpful.

We learned last night the elderly man had been admitted into hospital with Covid. Poor chap, no wonder he felt so lousy. Everyone is being informed who came into contact with him including Jessica. So far we don’t have any symptoms, fingers crossed.

Any news of you getting a 4th vaccination?

Morning all.

It's a bright, sunny, start to the day here. .

Let's see what the day brings. I know SWMBO is off to see her mum and do some gardening. Thankfully I'm spared that delight, gardening and me don't get on. Maybe Ian would like to pop down to help out .

Fingers crossed for Jessica and the elderly gent.

Keep safe.

Morning all, Blue skies & sunshine & warm already here, It's damp outside from overnight rain & everything is smelling fresh this morning.
I've sent another email to my docs to gee him up.

Morning all,

Late breakfast/Brunch for me today...

21st August 2022 Breakfast by Jeff Cranwell, on Flickr

Sorry I've not been about much recently. Been very busy with my new Freelance contract shooting for Car&Classic magazine.

This week I have shot an MGA, Sunbeam Tiger, Lambretta and an Aston Martin DB7. An eclectic mix

Sounds absolutely wonderful (no pun intended).
