Default steering wheel controls

i have fitted a chinese android multimedia into my 02 tourer which has the highline system but my steering wheel controls no longer work is there anyway to get them working again with the new android thanks in advance

does the unit come with an instruction manual ? it should tell you how to set up the steering controls in the install. you had just better hope the unit is compatible with the non infared set up that your 2002 model has....

thanks for your reply,I bought the unit on ebay it came out of a BMW e46 m3 so no manual i see there is a function on it for installing steering wheel controls but when i try to do whar's asked nothing happens so i would imagine that it works with infra red which my steering wheel controls don't have so will just have to put up with what i have thanks again

im not sure that the BMW is infared, i suppose it depends on the model and of course the year. cant you do some google to see if the set up is compatible or not. ?

The Highline system does not use the 2 x 8 pin ISO connectors that most aftermarket stereos use, and need an adapter lead. Some adapter leads do not carry the cables for the steering wheel controls (Blue/Orange and Blue/Purple in the car wiring)'and need to have them added.

the wires for the steering controls (the colours above) should be in the cars loom already. you can either populate the adapter loom via the plug , or if not route them separately to your unit. Not professional to do it this way , but it works. Your unit should have the leads for the steering controls to connect to. If not then buy a connects2 unit and patchlead.
