Key Fob Buttons
Hi
My key fob buttons are just starting split (not done too bad for nineteen years service) on the set of keys I tend to use most often. The key is working fine but I'm thinking of this as 'preventative maintenance' before I end up with a problem. Anyone here offer a service to replace the Valeo case and buttons? The idea is to get this one done first and then do the same to my spare key. I'm based down on the South Coast. Cheers |

Hello Ian,
As suzublu says, if you're a handy with tools you can fit a new case yourself. A word of caution though, many of the eBay items are very poor quality and don't fit together properly. Simon

As a temporary fix to one of my keys , I bought some rubber replacement buttons from eBay that just push in from the front of the casing and they seem okay and are lasting well.

That's what I did, although I had to take the casing apart to get them in. I also had to hack them about a bit to make them fit properly, but they've worked more or less just fine. If you do decide to do this you may find that, once fitted, you are able to press the buttons down but they will not 'unpress' again. This is because the rubber cylinder under the button face is too long/tall, and will need trimming to work properly. I cut them incrementally with the kitchen scissors until I was happy with them. I can post some pictures to explain further if you would like?
