For how much they are amanda, you might as well buy a new one from ebay etc. xtrons are popular at the moment as are erisin units.always a gamble with second hand units regarding longivity. have a look see what you think....

Remember to consider things like rear camera input if that's something you have or might have in the future.

Also do you want CD or just USB? And if USB how big? 64GB is about 5K tracks which is a pretty long journey

I have a Xtrons IN9946 and am not that impressed with the DAB reception. It's not even close to my son's 2010 320 BMW OE radio. You could just link it to your phone but that sort of misses the point. It's great with external sources like a USB drive with MP3's.

I wouldn't buy another Xtrons. I'd either go cheap and cheerful with something off eBay or Pioneer/Kenwood/Sony etc.

Hope that helps.

Happy shopping.

i suppose andy its all about your budget and and what you want to spend. the kenwoods / sony etc are good but you need to pay a lot of cash to come up to the full monty. it depends if you want reverse camera /satnav/ etc, etc, etc. i actually got 10 yrs from my original radioguy wince unit. so didnt owe me much. If the OP is looking for a used unit , then the budget is restricted obviously. Buying used is always going to come with inherent risks , hence why i suggest a new unit would be a better gamble , but what ?

Absolutely agree.

My post was simply to point out that my unit has poor DAB reception and I wouldn't buy another Xtrons unit for that reason.

If DAB is a very important source for Mandy then I wouldn't go Xtrons but if she usually uses a USB stick with, say, MP3's then it'll be perfectly OK.

Hope that make sense.

yes i see what your saying. the main problem is with the DAB transmitters. coverage in certain areas are brilliant , where as others are virtually non existent. so a lot depends on where you live, and drive of course. even in house applications DAB radios seem to have bad reception in certain areas, and from what i have read people are advised to tilt their antenna in a horizontal incline to get better reception. i dont know if the BMW has built in booster voltage on the head system antenna or not ,but very much doubt that the xtrons does. maybe im wrong. ..

I spend a lot of time driving all over the country in a modern Skoda with DAB radio.
Reception is lousy in a lot of places, so I wouldn't be too quick to blame Xtrons.

i dont think the mgrover rear screen arial version was too brilliant anyway even when new. you can buy front screen dab arials , which i have got , but in all honesty its still pretty bad in most areas.
