It is with great sadness I read this, although expected I had hoped for the news that he had made it back home. We have lost a good and faithful friend and a smashing bloke all rolled into one. My sincerest condolences go to Lillian, the family and all his friends. I hope that you all can take some comfort knowing he is out of pain now. RIP Derek, you will be very sorely missed matey. I do hope that if Lillian feels up to it in the future, that she can still attend some meets, with a local club chauffeur. Although I am miles away in Devon, it would be lovely to see her again when I can get up that way. Lillian, all my love to you, stay strong. Hope to see you soon.

I first got to meet Derek properly some years ago when he asked if I would help him fit his new double din sat nav.
To be honest, I was more than a little bit nervous at the prospect of pulling bits of trim out of his immaculate tourer, however Derek soon re-assured me that all would be well, and together we set about pulling out the old highline unit. Lillian kept us both refreshed with regular cups of tea and Derek proved to be terrific company, which will come as a surprise to absolutely no one! To cap it all off, once everything was in place and working, Derek presented me with a large bottle of whisky for my efforts - what a gentleman. I shall be raising a glass to him tonight. Not long after, I decided to make the effort to get out and start attending some of the local meets in our area. I hate being late and much prefer an early arrival, but no matter how early I pitched up, there would always be a beautiful black tourer waiting to greet me. Meets just won't seem the same. I feel privileged to have known both Derek and Lillian, and send my sincere condolences to Lillian for her sad loss.

I have just heard the sad, sad news, I'm sat with tears in my eyes at work. I was fortunate enough to meet Derek back in 2009, I really meant to speak to him at Eden Camp but kept getting distracted. He was some man. God bless you Derek and rest in peace xxx

I'm really saddened too hear of Derek's passing.
He was a true gent and really made everyone at the club feel welcome too be part of the 75/ZT club. I spoke too him at Eden camp and spoke about his military career as you know I was hoping too get in myself which may not happen, He gave me so much insight and really helped me along which is something I won't forget. There was not a bad vibe with him at all, He was truly gentlemen at heart and very humble through and through. His 75 was always in tip top Condition and looked the part at every meet he attended. He will be greatly missed by all and his legacy will still continue and remain on the forums which he loved so much. He was a inspiration too many people and he had heart of a warrior. RIP Sir you will be missed greatly and thank you again for making the time too speak too me at the meets.
