Yes, the Cowley Wedgwood Blue was paint code: JEL

and the later Longbridge version was paint code: JBH

A couple of notes.

The TxxxJOP cars were used by Managers just prior to launch. My Boss had one for a while.

My V plate 99 built V6 has a black expansion tank. My facelift CDT has beige.

Maybe they are different for different engines, and it makes it easy to tell which is which, like on the speaker mounting brackets (Black / White)

After yesterdays national meet at Gaydon, I had a chance to take a closer look at the first production 75 off the line which is in the museum (along with the last), and to my surprise it too is a dealer launch Wedgwood Blue car (the 1st one in fact VIN 100001)

(thanks to Trebor for these pics, I forgot to take my camera in to the museum)

Mine is 001149. Are we talking about pre-production or pre launch. What would be the differences

Mine hasn´t any reflexes on the doors. When was 1000001 made

Well the blue interior is going into the blue CDT that I´ve bought off Messenger

Here it is leaving the production line 6th. May 1999.

[06 MAY 99] ROVER GROUP PRESS RELEASE
Rover 75 Goes Into Full Production
The new Rover 75 has gone into full production at Rover Oxford - the culmination of a £700 million investment programme in the luxury saloon car and advanced manufacturing facilities.

The first full production Rover 75 in Wedgwood Blue and with a 2.5 litre engine was driven off the assembly line by the Rover chairman, Professor Werner Sämann.

Following tradition within the company, the car will go on public display at the Heritage Motor Centre, Gaydon, alongside many other examples of the best in British design and engineering. The Centre is given the first and last examples of all cars produced.

Ahead of its official on-sale date, which is in June in the UK, the Rover 75 has already been named What Car? Car of the Year 1999. Exports will begin later in the year and about 70 per cent of production will be sold overseas.

Professor Sämann said, "The Rover 75 has already been acclaimed as an outstanding car and now we will be producing cars for customers around the world. It is the start of the renaissance of the Rover marque."

Picture shows Professor Werner Sämann, chairman of Rover (left) with Fred Coultas, managing director of the Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon with the first production Rover 75 to leave the assembly line at Rover Oxford.
