Engine change
I've acquired a replacement engine for my KV6. The project car has been SORN for over 3 years with a cooked engine. Project for the summer is to effect the engine transplant - when I eventually re-register the car the V5 will need to be amended, is it just a case of submitting the 'new' engine number or shall I require any sort of proof/additional documentation?

while im sure someone will come on eventually and tell you the correct procedure, i have never changed an engine number on any car or motorcycle i have swapped engines on, including my KV6 10 years ago. I have never had a problem with an mot, numberplate swap or sale.

Hi John,
You won't need to "re-register" your car. I'm pretty sure that to cancel a SORN you simply tax the vehicle and its SORN status is automatically lifted (from memory the last time I did it). Quote:

DVLA site here lists evidence needed to update engine details on the V5: https://www.gov.uk/change-vehicle-de...idence-to-give
