... and then I cut the grass, shredded some paper from years ago and creosoted a gate. Almost wish I wasn't over 70!

I’ve done very little, cut the grass, painted the garage and cleaned all the cars. Spent most of the time in the garden chilling out with the family which was brilliant, we haven’t done that for years. Drank far too much alcohol but really enjoyed the time off, back in work Tuesday so let’s see how that goes.

Built a wheelie bin store, cut the grass several times, smashed a large concrete slab into manageable pieces, hung a couple of hanging basket brackets.
Other than that I have managed to get a dozen or more jobs done on my Jensen and will keep doing that until this lock down finishes. My wife reckons I am actually enjoying the time I am spending at home. There is probably a bit of truth in that but I am trying to make the best of a bad job. My neighbour is building a garage , he managed to get planning permission a few weeks before the lockdown and was planning on doing when he got time. He has plenty of time and has already up the first coarse. I know I am drinking to much but it just seems so easy to grab a beer with my dinner. |

Since moving a few weeks ago, I've not stopped. So far I've changed the kitchen worktops, and fitted a new fridge/freezer, and oven. Waiting on new doors to arrive. Tomorrow got to fit the new sink and taps.
Points for spotting the bits of car in the photos... I've made 2 boards for the kids railways that slide under their beds, and boxed in between the bed and the wall to protect the tracks from things falling on them. Had to empty the shipping container I'd rented to store the contents of the garage, and build up my new workbenches etc. And this weeks projects have been: Turning this 5' x 7' concrete slab: Into this: Then turning this: Into this: And then finally this evening, I finished digging out the base for my new shed, which arrives in a couple of weeks, 10' x 6', dug down 6"-7", and now can put in the concrete I smashed and dug up, into the base to use as the hardcore. And all these blocks of clay I dug out of the base, will be used in the bottom of some raised planters. |

With it being a Sunday, and all the pews at my nearest church full up, I made it a day of rest.
Relaxed with a showing of The Big Sleep. 1946, when the whole world was black and white and nobody swore and everybody talked about the other and didn't do it, Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall had the snappiest dialogue. Two and a half hours of classy film noire and I'm still smiling. Wonderful.
