Front CDT Tourer Spring Snapped
Very wierd. Returned from a 250 mile round trip over the mountains on Sunday night. Laid car up for 3 days. Got in on Wednesday evening and the N/S front spring was snapped and sticking in the tyre. Only reason I found out was on reversing the car there was this awful noise!! Glad that it didnt happen at speed or away from base! Will get that replaced asap so I can get the car on the road. Wouldnt mind but was looking to do a rear spring at the weekend!!!

Buy the tyre protector mods from rimmers so you don't loose a tyre next time.

Front CDT Tourer Spring Snapped
This is not so strange on many makes of modern cars. I experienced it on my Rover 75 tourer year before last whilst going along at 30mph and it was the exploding tyre that shook me. I certainly wouldn't like it to happen on the M25.

Is this the tyre protector you mean?
http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-RSC000131 It says its a genuine Rover part: so should it not already be fitted as standard???? Or is there another front tyre protector? |

That's them. They were a recall part but not all went back according to the story I heard. Mines had one but not the other side for some reason. They create a lip to catch a broken spring.

Yup, there were a couple of recalls from memory - but it never covered all date ranges as supposedly it'd been fixed.
We've seen this isn't the case though, with many 75s still suffering! Seems the ZT and ZT-T are slightly less prone, as the gauge of the springs is thicker.
