Bonnet stuck shut
My 75 CDT bonnet is stuck shut.
I think the primary cable (the sing one from the lever in the footwell) is either out of the junction box or parted, as there is some slack. Does anybody know how to get in and fix this? Best regards, Frank |

Bonnet stuck shut
Thank you Steve-45. I thought this might be the answer, but being a complete dummy on the forum, I have no idea how to do that.

To PM someone is the same as putting a post on the forum, except it only goes to that one person. So you probably did it right. So maybe his postbox is full or he is busy right now. I don't know how long you should wait but people are generally very good at responding. Just don't expect spontaneous

Dear Madeupname,
I was not expecting anyone to get back to me right away. I know it is a blessing that dorks like me have this forum to ask questions and impose on the good folks who do know what they are doing. My concern was that I had not done it right, and and was shouting down an empty wire somewhere. You kind rely tells me my scribblings have gone somewhere, so I will sit quiet and let things go their course. Best regards, Frank |

Bonnet stuck shut - resolved thanks to all who helped
Just a short post to thank sworks and greeners with the above problem.
Also thanks to the other members who weighed in to offer help and encouragement. I would repeat what I wrote to the mods - I should have taken more note of the useful posts on cleaning and relubricating the mechanisms that hold the bonnet. I would urge all other members to have a look at their own car and follow the advice of people like Jules on the forum. Or, like me, you could leave it until something horrible happens and then spend a half day contorting yourself into shapes nature never intended you to assume. And then still have to clean and lubricate the locks anyway! Best regards, Frank |
