Default Door lock problems

I posted a thread with a title about an old Arctic post on fixing the door pull cable, asking if any one has the photos from his how to. As it has now had over 90 views, but zero replies, I thought I might try a different title.

Any help appreciated, even if it is pointing me to different threads on fixing the handle floppiness than the excellent original Arctic version.

As my drivers door handle went floppy when my wife pulled it (oh er, missus) I went looking for the excellent write up Artic did on sorting the cable end.

However, the photos are missing, which is a bummer.

Does anybody have a copy, or have they been put some where else.

I remember there was an issue with the photo hosting site some time back, but I am hoping somebody copied them.

Best wishes, Frank

Many thanks for the info. I will be having a go at this today. I did not realise things were so complicated, so the photos may show if anything has dropped off!

Best wishes, Frank

I did think about that, but as I am useless with the computer and the website, I passed on it.

I will look at the problem today, and if I get stuck, tyr to get hold of Arctic. He is a wonder at this sort of thing and will tackle stuff I would not dream of going near before having a full battery of infromation and spares!

Best wishes, Frank

Default Door problem solved - for now

Anyone who has followed this post will know I wanted the photos that Arctic did on sorting the door lock cable end.

I had a go at the lock, looking at the broken cable end and re-reading the how to post from Arctic.

The text then made some sense, so I did the same sort of quick fix he did.

Despite my reservations about the crimp standing up to the forces imposed by the cable pull, they do seem to be surprisingly low, so for now it has worked.

I did try soldering the crimp, and even made a Nylon bush to fit. However, these "improvements" just made it more difficult to do in practice, so I ditched the changes, did more or less as arctic said, and it worked.

So once again many thanks to the indefatigable Arctic, and also to the guys who sent me photographs, info and advice in response to my post.

Best wishes, Frank B
