The car did fail on fron lower arms and bushes a couple of years ago, and the lot were replaced, at some cost - also track rod ends, hubs, shockers, top mounts... I'll see if I can get a spin in another one, and assess the difference... but the more I play with it while driving, the more I'm coming round to the idea that it's a gearing thing rather than play as such.
