I'd have a look at the bushes and joints which are still original then. My steering became much more positive after renewing the front lower suspension arm rear bushes. They hadn't failed the MOT but they were close.

Yeah... when I said "most", I think I was just being careful... I think they all have been done. The car did fail on fron lower arms and bushes a couple of years ago, and the lot were replaced, at some cost - also track rod ends, hubs, shockers, top mounts...


I'll see if I can get a spin in another one, and assess the difference... but the more I play with it while driving, the more I'm coming round to the idea that it's a gearing thing rather than play as such.
