I have found a WP (white/purple) from the ECU to "airbag - side - LH".
I have also found a U (blue, no tracer) from the "airbag - passenger" to a connector. I very much doubt that this would be under the seat since the passenger airbag is in the fascia.

Jim, you're going to have to take the seat out of the car to get a proper look at the wiring. It's no good saying "red/orange or could be orange/red".

Okay… think I’m finally getting the picture now. Your car must be the “High-Line” spec, which has slightly different wiring from mine. Here’s your post, with my comments:

Right hand side of seat=2x Blue.
RH AIRBAG
Left hand side of seat= 1@ Purple/White. 1@ Black/White.
RH PRE-TENSIONER

From floor there are 4 wires:

1@ Orange/Red
- RH AIRBAG, CONNECT TO BLUE ABOVE
1@ Purple/Red
- RH AIRBAG, CONNECT TO OTHER BLUE ABOVE
1@ Brown/Red
- RH PRE-TENSIONER, CONNECT TO PURPLE/WHITE & BLACK/WHITE ABOVE
1@ Brown
- RH PRE-TENSIONER, CONNECT TO PURPLE/WHITE & BLACK/WHITE ABOVE

I’m near as dammit sure that’s right now, but have a good luck at the diagram I sent you with the brown wire, and check what I’ve said against your car

And of course Rover would never have changed the wiring, probably on just some cars, either just before or just after the facelift

If you want unfathomable electrics get a 1970s Italian motorbike. My mate had a Moto Morini 350, we were trying to trace an electrical fault one day, a wire would go into a connector and come out a different colour, into another connector and change colour again I think they used whatever happened to be on the reel behind them.

Ah yes, the fabled MM3½ - I remember it well. In the 80s, I had a weird mate who always bought Italian bikes. Not the nice ones like Duke 900s, but aforesaid Morini, a Moto Guzzi with automatic transmission etc.

So I know what you mean

Hi Guys,
Well the parts are all put back, my local garage reconnected the wires as:

The 2 Blue wires connect to Red/Orange and Red/Purple.
The Purple/White connects to Brown.
The Black/White connects to Brown/Red.

The garage checked the electrics with his equipment, not T4 nor TOAF but it also highlighted that the R/H Side Impact Sensor is faulty. So I shall get one from dmgrs when I get home to bring out with me in September as the post here is terrible for items not arriving.

Thanks to everyone who has taken an interest in what has been a wee bit of a pain and special thanks to both Simon (SD1too) and Roger (Hogweed) for keeping me sane.

Now I can enjoy my beautiful Rover even though it still has the airbag light still illuminated, but not for too long.

Thanmks again everyone. Jim
