We may not have a say if you wanted to take your car every year, if they decide that the earliest date is month before the mot is due as it is now, therefore 23 months. Why not just bring the price down to £25 per year.

How many MOT testing garages would survive on £25 a year? The time it takes and the investment cost of the kit needs to be paid for.

A mot now on average costs £45.00 so if the GOV have their way that would be split in two over the 2yr period £22.50 so basically the same it's just a GOV look what we are offering you savings (not) playing politics with car owners. I am not in anyway condoning it or agreeing with it, just trying to say at least then your car would be checked every 12 months, hopefully we will be allowed the choice ? 12 or every 24 months.

I can see a small point, very small, if a car is annually serviced by an amateur but experienced owner. However when we come to our cars, and some are rather long in the tooth - serviced or not - then I for one prefer to know absolutely everything. What's more, Celia demands it. Not verbally, although one of those sideways looks is er, compelling. The choice of testing station though is paramount.
