She, misusing her allegedly beloved Scotland, will assume they will enjoy a very warm welcome if only to put English noses out of joint. The assumed reality might be somewhat different. It might be too late to ingratiate herself to the beast that will devour any meagre benefit that accession to the mighty EU is likely to provide.
Incidentally, in case it might be overlooked, to jettison rUK financial support in favour of exalted expectations of generosity from a foreign power is hopelessly inept. The track record reveals a somewhat different reality. Legendary canny Scots will see that and vote accordingly.

What would happen with DVLA? All those personal details held by a foreign country.
I have a pension pot with a Scottish pension company. What financial rules would apply to it? Would healthcare continue? Passports. Blue or red, no difference, but would folks have to apply for a Scottish/rUK one. All those details held by a foreign country. So many questions, so little thought. |

More scary than Hadrian. Mindful of the term Scottish widows.
Mind you, my grandma was Scottish (Jessie Norval, born in Glasgow c. 1860).

There is one advantage, Westminster would no longer have to put up with the agressive mutterings of the SNP.
All this for a country with the population of Yorkshire or that of West London |

Healthcare, I suspect the tax levied in Scotland will be retained here instead of being shared to the UK and we would fund our own healthcare Passports? Over 60% of us never wanted a blue one anyway Pensions, well as one of the major financial centres I. Sure it will be ok, if not then I suppose you could cash it in In reality many pension funds are maintained by ' foreign' companies. HSBC springs to mind. I agree though, a lot of questions need to be answered. If the various SNP white papers do not answer questions around economy, Europe and currency. I really hope the lessons have been learned

Is that just a bit tongue in cheek Simon? I thought so many of ‘us’ did not want to lose Scotland. Just those few paper rebels with the big gobs who spout then run away to hide behind a flag. That’s a very big brush you use!

As for the issues of Brexit, I suspect there will be the same rubbish spoken by those that want Scotland to remain and those that want independence, thus leaving the voters bemused as to what is the truth. macafee2 |

Few years back lived on the English Welsh border, our doctor was in Chirk in Wales. We didn't pay for our 'scripts. One Sunday evening I was blue lighted to Wrecsam hospital due to a severe asthma attack in a diverted English ambulance. I was prescribed medication and was billed for it. Wonder what would happen on the border of England and an independent Scotland? Would health insurance be required?
If we did move to Scotland following independence, would our cars be classed as imports? Would they have to be registered? A former colleague uses his Romanian Ford Mondeo here in the UK but has had to get it registered. Read on the Guardian letters page yesterday's that, apparently, Scottish independence is nothing to do with England. Really? Again, both sides really need to sit down and have an open and respectful discussion over all of this. Otherwise it is in serious danger of spiralling put of control and there will be no winners, only losers. |
