Oh heck! The Greener transport solutions lot want the government to implement a universal carbon allowance to every individual in the UK to cope with the cost of living.
Have a read at the 'Path to net zero report' at the bottom of this piece in fleet news. Want those Sainsburys string beans from Kenya? Oh! nah mate those will be spendy, Want another gallon of diesel after you've past your carbon allowance Oh! nah mate that'll be spendy again https://www.fleetnews.co.uk/news/lat...ero-transition Diesel is edging ever closer to the £2/litre mark with diesel hitting £1.96/litre on Saturday. https://www.fleetnews.co.uk/news/fle...inue-to-tumble

Are there any Rover 75 or MG ZT diesel owners in Paris? Just read this the other day about Paris phasing out diesel by 2024 https://www.euractiv.com/section/air...-cars-by-2030/

Not in the motor trade but curious about the medium/long term strategy the Gov has regarding the enforced removal of gasoline cars from the roads. Rocketing prices of fuel is just a start. On grounds of availability concerning price, that is a lie. The benefits? Waning of wealth and influence of oil producing countries.
First, admit the sales blurb for diesels is cobblers and the exhaust particulates are not healthy in any way. In fact, they are probably poisonous. Then, create low emission zones and no-go areas. Introduce massive tolls that can be wasted on civic adventures that solve nothing other than massaged egos. Then hit the pocket to condition owners/users further into a siege mentality, thereby creating a shrinking market for their cars that there is no way out of. Not even for scrap. So, the car cannot be sold. Ergo, the wider market for parts/servicing/repairs also dies. Then, unless meaningless uses can be found for derelict factories, create suitable vaccination centres in anticipation of the next mass phoney panic. They actually expect votes as well.

Yup. Grim indeed.
And the public transport for the 99.9% will obviously not take you anywhere you want to go, nor when you want. So you might as well get used to staying at home. If we simply murdered all humans, some loonies would cheer 'for the planet', but that doesn't make it moral, does it? The planet will be just fine. I cannot stand the arrogance of those who wish to control other peoples lives and take away progress and wealth. Those types are essentially pulling up a ladder that they have climbed. If people want to live in a cave, fine. Please give up your private jets and mansions. But don't expect anyone else to follow. Some might, by choice, and that is fine. But no one should be forced. |

Paid £1.80 for a litre yesterday at my local Tesco.
Glad I don't have to fill up every 10 days or so as I was doing whilst at work. |
