Tourer tools and jack holder
Not sure if I am missing something.
I thought the Tourers jack and tools fitted only around the spare wheel well not in the middle of the wheel like the saloon. Just looked at this from another members thread https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325273040...mis&media=MORE and the tools are in the middle of the wheel. It is quite a job to fit the kit around the spare wheel well but it does give the benefit of an extra "cubby hole" macafee2 |

According to James Taylor (Rover 75 & MG ZT, The Complete Story)
1. The lid deleted from spare wheel cover circular storage area - 6th Aug. 2001, VIN unknown - Tourer (page 93) 2. Spare wheel replaced by Instant Tyre Repair kit - 7th Oct. 2002 VIN 270369 - All models (page 95) By inference, the "horse shoe" tool kit was deleted sometime between these two dates. I've always thought that it was standard, on all tourers, before being substituted for the saloon style of tool holder. The horse shoe type has been retro-fitted to my Tourer, and after two attempts I opted for my local garage to fit it, using their ramp. They did confirm a lot of work involved !!. I'm sure that I have also read somewhere; that after the ITR (aerosol can) was introduced, a spare wheel could be ordered as a factory fit option. Of course you could always do that anyway (space saver to full size) Regards Mike

Mike, you are correct. Earlier Tourers all had the 'horse shoe' style fitting (with only the VERY earliest having the insert lid), then later it was all dropped in favour of the cheaper spare wheel foam mount.
Horse shoe was never offered as an option I'm afraid. It's not a difficult job to fit the nicer, early type, but it's quite a lot of work to remove all the trims, etc. Personally, I feel it's worth the effort, after all, it's one of those little features that makes the 75 a bit special 😉

My 2002 had the "Horse Shoe" tool holder from new, it also had the insert that covered the spare space saver wheel. I gave the insert to a member at one of the Nano,s who made a circular disc to fit in it with a Union jack design..
