Morning Ian

It’s shocking news for you and a worry. I am not sure if this will help you or not, but everyone’s cancer is different. 11 years ago, my younger brother was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer which had spread to his bones. The treatment was to surgically remove the cancer from the prostate. Most of the cancer was removed, the rest was removed through radiation treatment. The cancer had spread to his bones.

For a few years he has been receiving hormone treatment monthly injections from his GP and hormone tablets. This is a treatment which slows the spread in the bones. He is not in any pain and he walks several miles every day. He is living with his cancer.

Try not to get too despondent as you get to grips with what you have been told, I am sorry you are having to face this. Your mates are here for you.

Keep us posted.

Morning all,

Yesterday I needed a new front tyre and I wanted to have the front suspension checked as there was a knock sound going over bumps in the road. Both issues were resolved.

The tyre shop manager I had met before 2 years ago when he told me about his abdominal aortic aneurysm. Despite being a chain smoker, suffering from obesity and failing his cardiac bicycle test twice, last year he had open surgery to repair the aneurysm with the graft.

We listened to his story about the op and recovery. He proudly showed off his operation scar, all of which gave us a boost.

Before the op, he was terrified and couldn’t walk to the operating theatre because of anxiety and fear. After the op, all of the fear had quickly disappeared.

The docs told him he’d be off work for 3 months but after 10 days at home, he was bored so he returned to work.

He is still chain smoking, belly bigger than ever before but a happy chappie.

Because of what I am having to face, he knocked 50% off my bill, well every penny helps. What a nice man

What is everyone up to?

Morning folks,

It's a bit cloudy here and cooler temperatures than of late. Made for a much more comfortable nights sleep.

Nice to read that Quizzie is improving and back home with 'Dad'

Ian, I'm sure that those results were not what you wanted to hear. However, I'm told that prostrate cancer responds very well to treatment as Phil's Brother is testament to.

Phil,
If that tyre fitter got his Op in his condition it sounds like you will certainly be accepted to have yours.

Morning all from a grey and overcast Midlands.

Quizzie is on the mend .

As advised, started her off with a small walk - about 5 minutes rather than the 1 1/2 to 2 hours she usually gets.

Out comes the lead, greeted by a big waggy tail and pure excitement. I get pulled out of the door .

Off lead she's a bit less nuts than usual but into "sniff" mode and investigating.

Took her home after the 5 minutes - much to her disgust - but she then slept like a, well tired dog, for a couple of hours.

I'm not going to temp fate but she's home .

Thinking of those with stuff going on that's not great and sending our love.

Cheers folks.

Morning all, Grey skies & raining, The garden will thank you for it

Thanks Phil, Jeff. It did come as a shock and they went through the options of what treatment would be best after the CT scans. I'm off to Bolton hospital shortly for the first CT scan.

Not the best news to get Ian but least they know about it and are getting into it sharpish.

Felt really off yesterday afternoon, no idea why, light headed, nauseous. Went and stood under the shower for ten minutes which seemed to help a bit.

Need to go out later, forgot to get biscuits for the girls yesterday.

Yeah but discovered after the "funny turn" yesterday my guts are all to hell . . . . can't be too far from the loo shall we say. I regularly take meds for it so got loaded up on them, just waiting for them to take effect.
