Default New front brake pipes and Belts change

Tomorrow is the day I've booked her in for these 2 jobs to be completed. Is there anything that should be highlighted whilst the garage carries out this work? My Air con is not working, so maybe this is something else that could be checked whilst the mechanic is changing the belts. Belts have not been changed since new and I'm on 141K.

Hi Rob.
You first need to know if your fan is working on the low speed, turn the ignition to II without starting the car.

Make sure A/C is off then press demist button, you then look through the front grill to see if the fan is running continually?

If not then the low speed is not working which works in conjunction with the A/C to aid cold air.

Do you know if you have any gas in the system or not.

The test above will still work even if you don't.

Other than that i would get the garage to check if you have any gas in the system.

Only let them re-fill it if your fan is working, because if it's not then that will need sorting out either by adding a gold resistor to replace the silver one if you have a two wire 2 speed fan.

If you have a four wire 3 speed fan then the brushes will most likely need changing or it could be the motor burnt out you will not know until is is opened up.

At that stage you will also know if your condenser is in a decent if it's the original one most likely need changing, Big Russ is most likely your best bet for the above, garage will sting you.

Echoing the above, you're not far from BigRuss who is absolutely fantastic when it comes to these cars.
He's in Huddersfield from memory - well worth the trip out, he fixed a very annoying long-running issue on my ZT-T.

I just checked and the low speed doesn't work. The air conditioning has load, it cools and when it is connected if the front fan works. What should I see/check to see if the front fan is working at all speeds?

Hi Rob. If you have never changed your belts, aux and air con, I am surprised they are still there. The aircon belt wears more than the aux belt. I change mine every 5 years. Around 40,0000 miles , or it used to be until we were overtaken by Covid. The aircon belt usually is full of cracks. I only use Contitec belts on the diesel. Original fitting I believe.
