Some new links come with a top thread of 25mm to 28mm either way you are looking to leave 18mm of thread once you have reduced it. 1 2 Spanners open end and ring, ground thinner ring, and sides reduced on open end ones. 3 4 5 You can use the open end ones reduced to grip the original nut, and then use the flat on the link to undo it enough to get the hacksaw in to cut it.
