Default Swapping out transmission ECU to overcome EP problem??

Guys

I've had an EP problem for a while which comes on as soon as I put in the key however, it goes away with the removal and reinsertion of fuse 4 and the car then drives fine.

Having spent ages and ages trying to find a wiring fault but to no avail I took her in for a T4 session and was told "it could be anything" and it was suggested I try swapping things out to try to isolate the problem.

So based on fuse 4 eliminating EP my first swap out will be the transmission ECU, however before I try this I've a few questions.

1. I have an identical ecu in a donor car so is it possible to swap out, turn the key to II to see if EP has gone.

2. If this works what is the next step, what if anything will need re coding?

Cheers

Paul

Yes you can swap the ECU over without issues, best way of finding faults sometimes is to substitute with a known good one.

If it does work you can continue driving on the replacement, there will be a Vin mismatch but that can be sorted on T4.

Note:if you're using someone with a "virtual" T4 they can't do it without making the Autobox ECU unusable, it needs to be a proper one
