As is Steve's work. It's amazing what can be achieved with a biscuit tin or top of washing machine, pop rivets and some filler!

I will be looking towards the floor when i hand over the car to Tom in September, but it will keep out any debris or water if you we get any.

Default NUK in good hands.

I finally dropped the NUK off today to Tom, i was meet by his dad whom is a very interesting chap as is Tom, what a place you could easy spend a whole week there it's really fascinating, as is /was how Tom began his trade etc, also loved the massive pear tree, looking forward to seeing my car back in good fettle.

PS sorry Andy it seems i missed you as you were arriving after me.

How bad do these get before MOT is refused? I dont normally do hope but wondering if might get lucky this time really need to get it welded in. Watching with interest anyhow.
My MOT tester didn't even note the small amount of "bubbling" on the nearside sill, even more surprisingly said the more noticable "bubbling" on the offside sill was not serious yet, but I suppose I'd better start planning to repair sooner rather than later. It's a Cowley car so no problem with paint matching black sills

Default Sills Repaired. ( Tom Hobbs. )

The sills on the NUK have now finally been repaired, this was undertaken by Tom Hobbs.

Below are the photos taken by Tom as he progressed through the repair.

The 1st photo is of the temporary patch which was added until he was able to get me in with his very busy schedule.
1

2nd is when patch was removed.
2

3rd & 4th of them same.
3

The 5th is when the sill had been marked & cut out.

19

Tom kindly added this into the work he was carrying out to the rear sill

20th is the rear sill having a little filler added over the welding area.

21

22

23rd rear sill painted.
23

24th front sill painted.
24

After this Tom proceeded to do the waxoyl, and fit the trim that was removed, and i was informed i could collect my car whenever i was ready.

I collected the car on Wednesday 28th had another great chat with Tom, saw Andy (trikey) car goldie on the ramps with his sill removed and being prepared for the same treatment, although his car needed some extra work inside the sill, see his thread.

These are the photos i have taken today of the extremely outstanding work carried out by Tom on NUK.

Tomorrow the NUK is booked in for four new tyres & a four-wheel alignment.

9

A big thank you to Tom for getting me in at the end of September before the bad weather moves in on us over the winter.

I cannot recommend his services enough if you have to get this job done to your car which you will sooner or later, please try and get yourself booked in with him even if you have to wait you know it's going to be done right.

Most likely a few more photo tomorrow when the NUK has been shoed

Thumbs up

Great photos of the work done on Arctic's (Steve's) car. I too have seen Tom's work first hand when I had the nearside sill done on my old 75 a few years ago, he truly is a master craftsman. I also saw the work he was doing on another classic he had there and I can only describe it as awesome work.
Also as Steve says, Tom is a great guy and very much in demand.

Looks the bee’s knee’s Steve. It shows how good Tom Hobbs is if Andy comes all the way from Norfolk to get goldie done. Look’s like top class work by a top class chap, who know’s his job. I hope I never have to use Tom’s services, but if I did, I would not have sleepless night’s worrying what the end result might look like.
