The best gig I was ever at was also the smallest. Mate got me tickets for a fan club only concert by Fish at the Hibs club in Edinburgh. Capacity was only 300 or so but the atmosphere was fantastic, place was bouncing.

Afternoon all, It's a sizzler here again Me yeds sunbrunt as we say here LOL

I've been feeding/watering the plants & still managed to slop stinky comfrey tea on me again & trimmed the ivy on the front wall with the electric hedge trimmers.

I've been collecting & drying some tomato seed varieties from the greenhouse & Marigold seeds for next year.

Just steaming some steak & kidney pudding & taters out the garden for mash to go with the puddings & mushy peas for tea tonight It's also cold Henry's time

Default Weeds and wildflowers?

I watched a programme on the telly this morning, showing that farmers were getting extra money for leaving parts of their land (usually the not so good bits) to grow wild and actually sewing wildflowers etc. No doubt, this accounts for all the same appearing in my borders and edgings, being dropped by the local birds with a fresh coating of guano to compete with my blooms and bushes!!! The "good" part is that it is supposedly good for the environment and encourages bees and other flora and fauna to flourish.

I also see that "we", Joe Public can't buy decent weedkiller any more and have to resort to the rubbish supplied by the large chemical companies that just "knocks 'em back" for a week or two, then they all come back again. More time and money wasted, more money for the chemicals companies and having to transport more rubbish weed "killers" around the country on trucks. How can that be more environmentally friendly than killing the weeds once and for all, like proper weedkiller used to do. They still sell it to "professionals" so it can't be that bad or it would be banned entirely!

Half a gallon of go juice and a match would work but she won't let me!

Rant over - and breathe!

In me railway days we'd get a request to supply crew for the weedkiller train. Whoever the driver working it was he'd get multiple requests for weedkiller. That stuff was fearsome, killed grass, bushes, small trees, couldn't be applied neat, had to be watered down or it would just about melt the lineside fenceposts
