Precisely. It's man (or woman) who adds the cost to it. Gold is actually pretty useless to most people. Never understood why top bricklayers got a golden trowel!!!

Please explain the following.

As of August 2022, the price of crude oil per barrel is $89.10, and the average price per litre of petrol in the UK is £1.77p.

But back in June 2008, the price of crude oil per barrel was $187.04, and the average price per litre of petrol in the UK was £1.04p.

So as things stand, the price per barrel of crude oil is 52.3% down from the price in 2008, but the price per litre of petrol is 70% up from 2008.

Can you see now how you are being lied to when the Government and mainstream media tell you that these rising costs are due to the war in Ukraine?

Do they (the government) want to limit how far you travel?

It wont be just the UK that will have more expensive fuel in a couple of years time!

We're in for huge disruptions in the coming years! Don't forget the EU 'fit for 55' & Euro 7 will include emissions from the transportation sector which will come under the ETS for the first time ever. (the UK's ETS is tied in with the EU's ETS) which will mean oil companies selling fuel will have to buy carbon credits for the emissions they produce of which the price will be passed onto the motorist making it even more exorbitant in price. https://www.cer.eu/insights/how-make-ne ... -consumers

World politics have been driven by the need for oil for the past 100 years or so but that's all about to change in the coming decades with the shift to electricity for transportation needs.

Countries wont have to be at the mercy of the petro countries any more because they can generate electrons locally via renewable methods which are becoming cheaper than fossil fuel power production YOY. The need for electricity will drive present & future politics, No more energy/oil wars, what price the vast military hardware of the USA in the coming years! there will be no need to fight over it soon because lets face it the USA armed forces are only there to make sure the oil flows.

My plastering trowel is so old, it has a wooden handle! It's been used and abused by my father and myself for over 70 years! The corners are now rounded off and sharp as a Stanley knife!
Trigger's broom, eat your heart out!

I've still got a wooden trowel and a metal one with wooden handle from the 1970s. Then there are the Record planes.

Also a Pantograph and two slide rules. Anyone remember the Pantograph?

I can still perform calculations using the slide rules!

I only wish that I had taken the theodolite, offered to me by my old boss in the 60's. A beautiful old instrument in a superb hardwood box. The missus would have killed me if I had set it up on the sideboard!!!

In 1961, not a misprint, I was a butcher working for J. Sainsbury at Barkingside and Manford Way, Hainault. My first job after arriving daarn saaf from Liverpool. I was keen as mustard and went to night school to study public health and food production.

Part of the finals of the exam at the end of the 2 year course was a demo of one's butchery skills. A whole hindquarter of Aberdeen Angus to carve up. Came top of the class and the prize was a set of knives, choppers and steels which I still have today. Oh, and a certificate which was an immediate 'in' to promotion. The big 14" inch steak knife is, after much grinding, like a knitting needle now. As am I.

As a customer at the Barkingside shop, Celia was a surprise prize as well.
