Default Check service message

Dear all,

my CDT connie message centre intermittently displays "Check Service" on the screen.

It also shows the engine mimic sign at the same time.

This goes off after a couple of seconds at most, but flashes on and off apparently at random.

It is not frequent usually, but can flash a couple of times in any drive, or not at all.

I have another 10k before an inspection service is required, according to the speedo indication.

Any thoughts on this?

Best wishes, Frank

Are you sure it says that and not 'Check Engine'? This message is accompanied by the yellow EML light (engine icon).

The Handbook doesn't describe a 'Check Service' message.
What would it mean?

Update on my thread.

As T-Cut says there is no mention of a "Check Service" message, which is why I asked.

I asked the wife to read the message, as she still has eyes that work close up.

It does say check engine.

Sorry about that guys, my peepers no longer work at close quarters without big magnifying glasses, and it is not advisable to try to drive with them on!

The message never comes on when I am stopped, only when moving.

It does not latch, coming on for a couple of seconds at most, and then goes off.

I checked the oil level as I thought it might be low, and the car seemed to display the message when going over road humps, or braking/accelerating.

Plenty of oil, so it is time to dig a little deeper.

Best wishes, Frank
