Default Highest mileage on 1.8t

Just wondering really, what kind of mileage are these engines capable of? I got a good innings with my 1.8 N/A at 170,000 (with a couple of head gaskets!) but I wonder if the 1.8t is as durable? I've read that they are a little more highly strung - thoughts?.

They do last well, I'm aware of many over 100,000 miles.
As with most cars nowadays, the engine tends to be fine and it's usually another problem that ends the car's time on the road.
When looked after, all versions of the K4 engine are reliable and cost-effective to run. On paper MPG may only be average, but factor that against cheap maintenance and parts, and you have a winner.

I think if anything they are less stressed, they run lower compression than a N/A 1.8. Mine is well over 100k, the previous owner replaced the head gasket as a precautionary measure not as the result of a failure and when I saw Brian not long after I bought it he reckoned it was a "new" turbo as well. Previous owner reckons it has been "tweaked" at some point in its past, all I know is it brings the hooligan out in me now and then, goes like stink when you wind it up

My ZR 1.4 K series is up to 109K on it's second head gasket. Don't think many K series get to high mileage in joe public's hands. Poor maintenance and the likelyhood of HGF as a result, many are just retired rather than face a big bill on a seemingly worthless car, sad...

I had a 200 Vi which was coming up to 70+ thou when I moved it on and that never lost a drop of water or had the head done, I know it's not the 1.8T but I think it's a good comparison as they are probably driven with equal gusto!! My wife's 1.8 connoisseur was on 96 thou when the gasket went, but that was down to the previous clown owner putting in the wrong anti-freeze and mixing methanol with ethylene glycol!!!.

Default 1.8t

My 1.8t ZT has 160,000 on it. Sometimes has coolant leaks, sometimes doesn't. But as long as you keep an eye on it, runs just fine.
