Default Bonnet stuck shut

Dear All, I have had a further fiddle with my locked bonnet.

As I stated earlier, the cable in the drivers footwell seems to be slack, which I thought meant the cable had gone or become parted from the pesky little box under the bonnet.

The small lever behind the grille is in the position it normally is when the cable has been pulled and the usual "clunk" heard as the bonnet releases.

The lever can be pulled right up, but nothing happens.

I can also push it back in toward the radiator.

Does anyone know why this should be?

I also did a search online and found a method purporting outline a method for opening the bonnet from the outside.

Suffice it to say, I have not tried it yet, given that it seems to give a routine that seems a trifle too athletic for a 64 year old with a glass back and only the usual complement of joints in the arms!

Best regards, Frank
