Help please, No Acceleration next minute its ok.
Hi Guys.
i have a Connie Tourer on a 2003 Plate, usually runs like a dream, Before Christmas I put a new MAF Sensor on her its a genuine Bosch part from Germany. I also have new Air Filter and PCV Filter, recently I noticed that when I go to accelerate that she thinks about of for a minute then pics up and boosts forward, then she was ok for a couple of months, I towed the caravan to the Lake District on Thursday just gone, pulled like a dream no problem, 108 miles returning 26.5 to the gallon according to the computer, (Oh and she is a Diesel, had her chipped by BigRuss a couple of years ago,) so today I was coming home and I pulled into a Layby for a drink, when i came to set off, (I always pull away in 2nd gear when I am towing the caravan) i put my foot down and she just moved very very slowly and there were no rev's she more or less just ticked over, I moved upto Drive and she did nothing just about 5mph, then down again to 2nd, after thinking about ot for a few seconds she found power and pulled away, didnt have any more problems, after I dropped the caravan off at the storage i was coming home and I went to accelerate on a national speed limit, and once again she had to think about it for a couple of seconds then responded. It is not the fuel filter as I put a new filter on about 4 months ago, and I never let her run very low on fuel, so any help will be much appreciated. health & Safe Wishes to All. |

Sounds very much like the EGR is sticking, take it off clean and refit

Same problem
My old 75 CDT has the same problem-ish.
When it goes, it goes very well, but it has fits of the blues where it can be a bit embarrassing. The problem is the completely random form it takes. I have even known it to occur on the same drive, after it has been performing like a lion. EGR cleaned, new Bosch MAF, both pumps ok etc,. but no amount of messing about has solved it. Does not seem to be as bad as the original poster has and I can always fall back on the "Gentleman's conveyance driven by an older gentleman at his own pace" as an excuse! Hope you solve your problems my friend, and when you do, please let us all have feedback on what cured it. Best wishes, Frank |

The next time it plays up, as a test, try unplugging the LP fuel pressure sensor - it is the plug on top of the fuel filter, and see if things improve.
