Default Cigar lighter removal

I've managed to push the actual lighter socket deeper into the holder. The door is now jammed and I can't see how the assembly releases. I've done a search and can find a reference to the same problem by Nisfo but I can't find how this was resolved. I'm pretty sure something has broken;it all seems a bit flimsy, so I expect I'll be looking for a replacement.

Anyone know how it pops out? Is it like the cup-holder retainer?

I'm affraid to say the cigar lighter is intergral to the lower centre console unit. To remove it requires stripping the centre console working your way downwards starting from the radio headunit and the "eyebrow" piece then down to the climate control/heater control pannel then next comes the lower unit containing the cupholders, cigar lighter and ashtray.

Hope that helps for starters.

As above except you do not need to remove the ICE head unit or eyebrow. Start by removing the Climate Unit and work down from there. You can use the instructions contained in this how to. It is straightforward.

Quite true Mike, the headunit doesn't need to be removed but it does give you an awful lot more room to play with when you're wriggling the damn wires about at the rear of the lower centre console to unplug the cigar lighter wires

Thanks for the quick replies!
I've only ever posed one question on here that never got an answer.
Guess I'll be contacting SMC for another unit.

Can't remember how to post link, but this got 0 replies. Not really surprised.

Request to Members in North Wales. I have to visit someone near Caernarfon in a couple of weeks time. Thought SWMBO & I would take advantage and make a 2-3 day mini-break of it. Looking on internet for decent place to stay and there doesn't appear to be a great deal in the Caernarfon to Porthmadog area. Would appreciate suggestions especially personal knowledge of places other than impersonal and town centre type hotels.

Guess no one really knows the area well enough, perhaps?

On the subject of the original question, however, thinking back to when I took my console apart (as you do) I do recall seeing that there may be a way of removing the cigar lighter from the console but how one would do it I don't know. Thin pokey tools and lots of perserverance spring to mind....

Mine is broken in exactly the same way apart from the door is missing too! I managed to get a whole centre console bit including the ashtray for twenty quid or something.
